The award-winning ferry company DFDS is launching a £1 million ticket giveaway to the heroes of the pandemic, NHS staff, so they can have well-deserved holidays after their outstanding work during the past 20 months.
DFDS is making 7,500 tickets available for travel on its UK routes from Dover, Newhaven and Newcastle through a partnership with Blue Light Tickets, which runs ballots for free tickets to events and activities for NHS employees as a reward for their tireless work. Many NHS staff did not take annual leave during the Coronavirus pandemic while they focused on supporting patients. Now DFDS is offering them a chance to get their hands on free ferry crossings so that they can plan a holiday and travel at any time up to the end of December 2022.
Announcing the #DFDSThanksNHS giveaway, Jacques Webb, campaign manager UK & Continent for DFDS, said: ‘Our own crews worked throughout the pandemic as keyworkers, keeping ships sailing and playing an important role ensuring the smooth supply of essential goods and medicines, and we were very conscious that we were playing our part to help during the pandemic. But we know how much more was asked of NHS staff and would like to be able to thank them in a real and meaningful way, by enabling them to take time away from work to relax and enjoy themselves in completely new surroundings.’
